Hafa Dai.  I'm Tom Sanders and this is my home here in cyberspace.

You will find a rather eclectic mix of topics and information on these pages.  They reflect my interests and focus mostly on what I am doing now, researching and writing. Writing fiction is a third career for me after 20+ years as an international television  journalist and a five year interlude as 'King of Somewhere Hot'.  I established this website to introduce visitors to my writing with the objective of getting published, preferably pre-posthumously.  While my focus is on the printed word, some of  these projects are quite suitable for television or movie adaptation. The truth, of course, is in the writing.  It's either good or it isn't.  That's for you to decide.

Tom  had Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery April 21st.  The surgery was a total success.   He also had back surgery. It became infected,  badly infected and required a second operation.  He was unable to walk and pain was intense.  60+ days in hospital, before he convinced the Indian to throw a freezer through the window so that he could escape.  There will be no diary.  That would require recall and  he wants to just forget  the whole experience. He will however answer any communication from Parkinson victims who are considering the operation and want to talk to someone who has been where they are going .

While in New York in late August, Tom was a  guest of talk show host Joey Reynolds., the topic Gott Mit Uns and Hemingway.  The Joey Reynolds show is broadcast nationwide to more than 100 stations.  Give it a  listen.

Tom's article The Death Factory, Ernest Hemingway at the Battle of Hurtgenwald has  been published in the October 2008 issue of  America In World War II Magazine. Go to http://www.americainwwii.com     (search for Hemingway)

Tom was among authors appearing at the International  Festival of  Literature at Stratford-Upon- Avon, England, April 18-21st.  Tom spoke about his forthcoming book GOTT MIT UNS, The Strange But True Story of Ernest Hemingway's Nazi belt buckle.

'Tom's presentation was an absolute delight, and our fledgling festival would have been much less interesting without it.'                                                     Steve  Newman Festival Director

Some friends Jim Parks and Kate  Moore have started a new website/blog for short stories.    It is called...

THE LEGENDARY and you can find it at http://downdirtyword.blogspot.com/

Tom Sanders and John  Hemingway  Pamplona, Spain July 2009.  John is grandson of Ernest and author of STRANGE TRIBE.    The other photo is an award they gave to all of us.. it is made  of concrete and weighs  a bloody ton! It  look's like Hemingway a second after he pulled the triggers  on that double  barrel shotgun.    I am going to use it as my tombstone on a reef near the Caribbean island of Carriacou,

please use the backward and forward arrow keys to navigate this website, and click on the photos and illustrations to go to the page content

Relax in a rocking chair on the balcony of the Bay Hotel.  Set  your Margarita where you can reach it easily.  A musician in a bar down the street is singing a Jimmy Buffet song, ' King of Somewhere Hot' . It's a perfect setting to read a short story from SOUTHERN EXPOSURE.

In 1783,  The British East India Ship Antelope crashed onto a reef  in uncharted waters of the Western Pacific.  So begins THE PRINCE,  the story of Lee Boo, a native of the islands today known as Palau and Belau.  If  you enjoy tales of the sea, adventure and history, these first two chapters are well worth the time it will take you to read  them.

DIVING THE LEGEND -  Read what it is like to scuba dive the famous  Greenpeace ship  RAINBOW WARRIOR

Wanna see what's inside Tom's head? (what is there and what is missing.)  Check out Tom's  brain scan to learn more about PARKINSON'S DISEASE  with an introduction of sorts by Tom's friend Kenny, The Original Kramer.   NEW: Tom's Diary.

This page has been hijacked by  resident basset hound in the Sanders household. It was intended to be one of those schmaltzy tributes to this great breed of dog, so maybe this is for the best.  In  the BARNABY CHRONICLES, Volume 1 -  Barnaby talks to the late John Lennon about the Beatles and Yoko.

GOTT MIT UNS,  the strange but true story of Ernest Hemingway's Nazi belt buckle is undergoing a thorough re-write for submission to publishers.  That which can be accessed on this website is very much a work in progress, and is only 'the tip of the iceberg'

I heard this song recently titled 'Hemingway' by an excellent bunch of musicians called BLOF from Holland. I could not get it out of my head so I edited a video to the music titled Hemingway's HAVANA.

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did editing it.
